Counseling for Children, Teenagers, & Adults
Wyoming & Idaho Certified
BCBS CARELON CHIP ComPsych Intermountain Mines & Assoc.
Throughout most of my counseling career I have worked closely with children, adults, and families on LGBTQUIA+ issues. In addition to LGBTQUIA+ counseling support, my work includes advocating for this population, and services may include (but are not limited to) the following:
Linking families and children to support groups and medical professionals in their community and region
Evaluations & letters of support to medical doctors who adhere to the WPATH Standards Of Care (SOC) for transgender adults seeking to transition. Evaluations & letters to medical doctors for minors whose parents support the appropriate stage of transitioning for their child and are working with a qualified doctor who follows WPATH SOC. Please note, for minors, my ability to help will depend on your state's current legislative laws. In some cases, a full evaluation from a psychiatric nurse or psychiatrist may be required and/or transfer of care depending on the adult or child's mental health needs and circumstances.
It is important for parents to be supportive and open to learning about what their LGBTQUIA+ children are experiencing. By simply listening to them without reacting in fear or anger, they can do wonders for their mental health. My services include providing therapeutic support and psycho-education for parents as well as linking them to support groups.
